About Splash
Splash Sails, Inc. was started by Alan and Joel
Greenberg in May 1973. The territory initially covered was Metro New
York and Northern New Jersey. We soon grew to ten sales
reps. In the early 1980’s, we expanded our coverage
to Southern New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and Connecticut
and increased our sales force to 19 reps. We also focused
on the growing mail order business on a national basis. With
the changing department store scene, we pursued both the buying
offices of the major department store chains and those of member
group organizations. Upon our 15th anniversary, our territory
again expanded to the remainder of New England, Maryland, Virginia
and the District of Columbia, better known as the “Mid-Atlantic”. We
then grew to 25 to 30 reps.
In 1994, Splash acquired an interest in Van Dow Fenton, a prominent
gift and stationery sales organization established in 1945 with
complimenting lines and sales representatives, thus creating
a unique business opportunity. A combined road force of
35 reps offering an eclectic mix of very saleable products has
given a new meaning to “one stop shopping”. After
Alan passed away in early 2007, Kim Ryon and Judy Greenberg became
the new owners of Splash.
Splash recognizes that we are a sales and service organization,
our reps being our most important asset. We have chosen
to have one division with a sales force working together in the
most harmonious way, focused on common goals. Maximum earnings
and benefits can be realized by our reps working for profitable
manufacturers. Splash represents some of the finest manufacturers
in the gift industry. Our turnover of reps and factories
is minimal. We have worked for some of our companies for
over 25 years, and many of our reps have been with us for over
15 years!
We have a phenomenal presence at the New York Gift Shows and
participate in many regional shows. Many national retailers
have invited us to be part of their shows as well, however, our
success is attributed to our constant road business – our
reps are in the stores on a monthly or quarterly basis. The
customers expect nothing less from us. We look forward
to working and growing in a pleasant and profitable manner with
all reps, factories, retailers and wholesalers with whom we do
business.
